Impact. Making a difference in South Jersey.
Rockin’ J Ranch was built to share the western style ranch perspective with South Jersey. But it goes much deeper than that. While our love of the horse world shines on the outside, there is a side to Rockin’ J Ranch that is brightening the lives of individuals dealing with mental health issues.
In the Spring of 2019, Brian Johnson was completing an internship at another South Jersey ranch, to complete his degree in Animal Science with a minor in Equine Science. There he and Morgan met the now owners of Rockin’ J Ranch. Together they dreamed of opening Rockin’ J Ranch to bring the stress relieving benefits of horse riding to all of South Jersey.
When Brian talks about his wife Morgan, his love and admiration shines through. “There’s something different about Morgan. The light inside of her is very evident to anyone who does a horse ride or trains with her”
This same light is what make people flock to her, especially children. Today’s world brings extra stress to kids. Social media pressure, the uncertainty of the pandemic…it’s a lot to put on our kids’ minds.
Fortunately, riding a horse puts all that aside for the moment. Whether it’s the fact that you need to be super focused when dealing with horses, or being out in fresh air while riding, Rockin’ J Ranch is bringing a dose of nature’s medicine to many of the area’s kids.
Children dealing with the effects of autism are also part of our ranch family. Their parents are amazed at the progress their children are making and are grateful for the results.
Other forms of stress and anxiety in both children and the Adults who join us for rides and lessons, are alleviated by time spent at the ranch.
Brian shares that he was diagnosed with high anxiety and depression when he was in college and admits that his job is actually his therapy. He and Morgan say that their mission is Impact, making a difference in the lives of people of South Jersey.
They couldn’t do it without the rest of the staff at Rockin’ J. Lisa Klose is the Office Manager, proud mother to Abby and Nick, who are both instructors at the ranch. Deanna Lombardi is our reining specialist. And with the good weather back and summer programs starting in July, the ranch will be adding more staff.
